SICK AND AILING: Larry Perras’s father is having heart surgery. Phyllis Shelmadine passed away. Jack and John Keech’s mother passed away.
Capital Improvement Fund: WOW!!! The bathrooms are really looking great. Thanks to those who have donated their time working on this project. The counter tops sinks and toilets are all installed in 2 of the bathrooms. We still need a lot of help with the flooring -trim- and other work in the men’s room so please contact Gary Crawford 677-5332 or Kevin Irwin 921-9500 to get in your workday before the hunting season starts! It can get done much faster with the help of others! ALSO THANK YOU TO ALL who have sent in donations to date! We will be running out of funding for these projects soon if we don't receive more donations. If you have been putting it off, now is a great time to send in your support for this important work we are doing on our clubhouse!
August 20th Club Get together: Steve Corsette is running the event and would like everyone planning on attending to order their chickens by August 12th (Steve Corsette 315-623-9429 or email captkidder@hotmail.com) He estimates the chickens to cost about $3.50 apiece. He wants people to bring their own drinks and a dish to pass. Along with this event see the following from Gary Crawford: Member’s club tour day will be August 20 along with the 4-wheeler weekend. We will meet at the BBQ tent on Camp 1 Road at 9:AM sharp, PLEASE BE ON TIME!! New members can get to know the club land thru the "old timers" that we have in the club. They are a wealth of info and are willing to share it with you. You may find out where all the gates are or the best hunting and fishing spots are. Last year Chuck Parker attended and said " it was the best time he ever had on the club land". All are welcome please let Lou McNett or Gary Crawford know you will be coming.
Gun Raffle: Dave Dano announced the raffle is set for 30 of the 31 days in October, as it cannot run for more than 30 days. Tickets will come out in August. Sharpshooters is pricing out the gun selection. If you want specific numbers please email Charlene Dano at: c-dano@hotmail.com. NOTE: Dave Dano announced the tickets are here. Please be sure to check the ticket if purchased by a member as we need this information for our accountant. Unsold tickets should be returned by September 20th. Every 5 tickets sold will put your name in for a drawing in December.
Sportsman’s Federation Report: The MRC is donating a buck a member to the Conservation Council as voted by the club membership. NYSCC and Daisy is looking for volunteers to work the firearms booth at events in the Watertown area. The NYSCC Fall Convention is in September. An antler restriction bill is on the Governors desk. Please send letters to have this vetoed.

Attendance was a bit low maybe due to the hot weather. Fishing was fair and most everyone caught fish. All children received prizes. The food was great and everyone had a great time.
ITEMS OF INTEREST: Facebook Page: A Facebook page has been created with Mad River Club information posted. This includes pictures and text. See “Mad River Club-Pitkin” for the Facebook address. A member has asked that the property addresses be posted in the newsletter. I will follow up with this request as I believe it would be better if we posted it on the website. We would lose track of it as the newsletters changed. If someone has good GPS coordinates for the different properties please let me know. Archery: Bill Killam (387-3350 or Dick Brock 782-5977) are the people running the archery shoot for next year. Currently Bill has 600 raffle tickets printed at $10.00 each. He gave out a list of prizes, which includes a new bow. There are many great prizes. Bill also said sponsors are lining up. Club News Updates: As I get club information updates between meetings, please see the club website: www.madriverclub.com for this info. Any questions please send me an email or call. (newsletter editor). From Gutchess Lumber company: No firewood is to be brought onto any Gutchess Property or taken off any property. Club members can cut firewood on the property from downed trees. No standing timber is to be cut. Also, no stone is to be removed from Gutchess property. Someone is using the club to hit golf balls. Please pick up the balls after you are done as this poses a danger for the people mowing the lawn. We have found trash dumped in back of the club. We have a dumpster so please use it. When you sponsor a new member, you should plan on attending the meeting to introduce the new member. Volunteers are needed for the following: Audit committee (You do not have to have any special training) as part of the committee you will be given some training on how to conduct an audit. Classifieds: If anyone is interested in selling or buying sporting goods, the newsletter can post the ads.
