ITEMS OF INTEREST:

CLUB DUES: The annual dues will be coming out December 1st with payment due by January 1st. Included in the dues payment will be the normal yearly dues, work day fines and dues lottery. Camping notices will come out later. DON’T SHOOT THE MESSSENGER: Included in this years dues is an 8% sales tax, which is required by NYS tax laws. If someone has a hardship with the yearly dues, please contact any BOD member as soon as possible.

Archery Range: The elevated platform is in place and targets are being set up. These targets are for bow use ONLY: DO NOT SHOOT at these targets with any firearm. The targets are for field tips only. No broadheads are allowed on the targets. A great deal of effort has gone into to making this range so please be considerate and use as directed. The platform will have a gate and will be locked. Your member keys will open the gate lock.

Facebook Page: A Facebook page has been created with Mad River Club information posted. This includes pictures and text. See “Mad River Club-Pitkin” for the Facebook address.

Family Picnic: The club is in need of a volunteer to take over the annual Club family picnic. As per our last meeting, the picnic is sorely missed and it would be great if someone would take over as chairman. Please let any board member know if you would be interested.

A member has asked that the property addresses be posted in the newsletter. I will follow up with this request as I believe it would be better if we posted it on the website.  We would lose track of it as the newsletters changed.  If someone has good GPS coordinates for the different properties please let me know.

Archery: Bill Killam  (387-3350 or Dick Brock 782-5977) are the people running the archery shoot for next year. Currently Bill has 600 raffle tickets printed at $10.00 each. If you need to get in a workday before the end of October, please contact Bill Killam and he can get you going.

Club News Updates: As I get club information updates between meetings, please see the club website: www.madriverclub.com for this info. Any questions please send me an email or call. (newsletter editor).

From Gutchess Lumber company:  No firewood is to be brought onto any Gutchess Property or taken off any property. Club members can cut firewood on the property from downed trees. No standing timber is to be cut. Also, no stone is to be removed from Gutchess property. Reports from club members are that this is continuing to be a problem. Please do not jeopardize the clubs hunting grounds by breaking this rule.

Flickenstein Property (Lafeyette area) The owner has put up some gates to allow his herd to graze in different areas. The owner has asked that you leave the gates as you find them. If open, leave open, if closed leave closed. He is moving his herd around.

When you sponsor a new member, you should plan on attending the meeting to introduce the new member.

Gutchess Lumber has changed their locks to combination locks. Please leave these locks alone.

NOTE: Shars diner up by the Little John drive has changed owners. It is now called The Gathering Place. Hours are Wed-Fri 7am-7pm and Sat-Sun 7am-2pm. The food and service was good and I said I would pass it along to the club members.
