Fishing Derby: February 5th and 6th ( Sandy Pond)
MEETING:
The
regular meeting started at 8:00 with Chuck Parker chairing the meeting. ON
BEHALF OF THE MEMBERSHIP: The

AND AILING:
Lou McNett is sick with a cold
and his wife is having cataract surgery next week.
Bill Harnas has an infection and blood clot following back surgery.
Life member Bill Shirley passed. Fay
Read has been hospitalized since before Christmas. Capital
Improvement Fund: We
have had many generous people send in a donation for the fund and we are at
about 25% of our goal. That’s great. THANK YOU. The
planning stages are starting for the first project as you read this newsletter.
However we are still asking for your support and not to delay your donation any
longer. Any amount can be donated. Our challenge goal is to be at 100% by April
2011. So please help with this very important cause. ICE
Fishing Derby:
This annual event is scheduled for February 5th and 6th.
The cost will be $3.00 for kids and $5.00 dollars for adults. The derby is being
held on Sandy Pond. The event chairman is Lou Box. Anyone interested in helping
out please contact Lou Box. Federation
Report: The second annual Sportsman & Outdoor Recreation Legislative
Awareness Day is Tuesday January 25th. The event is from 9am to 1pm.
Buses will be leaving from Pulaski and Gander Mountain. Call Chuck Parker for
details on the bus schedule. For information about the event call Rick McDermott
at 315-882-1540. Building
and Grounds: Kevin
Irwin has been named the new building and grounds chairman. He can be contacted
at 921-9500. Memorial
Fund Committee:
A new committee has been established to ensure the memorial funds are tracked
and the money allotted as intended by the people who established the memorial.
If interested in being on this committee let Chuck Parker know. ITEMS
OF INTEREST: The extended family of Ken and Gerry Burd has instituted a scholarship fund, in their name, through the MRC in the amount of $500.00 to be awarded yearly to a member, member’s child or grandchild. The recipient must be a graduating high school senior or college undergraduate, pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Wildlife Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Law Enforcement, Agricultural Engineering or other closely related Environmental field. The Selection Committee will award the scholarship based on academic performance, school and community activities/involvement, a short essay and 2 letters of recommendation. Applications are available by contacting Ken or Gerry at 315-652-7095, kburd1@twcny.rr.com, or at the address below. All requested information must be postmarked no later than April 1st of the current year. Please

for Kids: The MRC club will be able to send 5 kids to the DEC Camp for Kids this
year. Security:
Strawberry Lake property now has two locks. One is for the loggers and one for
MRC members. Lafeyette landowner has asked that we not hunt coyotes on this property. The coyotes help keep the varmint population down. A fly fishing seminar has been proposed. It will be held at the clubhouse. Jim Lewis is working out the details. The final information will be posted in the newsletter. If anyone knows someone who could place a bid to parge and put in drainage tile around the clubhouse please let the BOD know. We are seeking bids for this job. The MRC is looking for any volunteers for legal council. If interested or know someone who could help, please let a board member know. Jim Howard stepped down as camping committee chairman. A new chairman will be named at a later time. Classifieds: If anyone is interested in selling or buying
sporting goods, the newsletter can post the ads. Just drop the editor an e-mail
